one thing

we were arguing again

& I wanted to head out the door

the usual down blues

sad thin whine

this ain’t working no more

she said she wanted holding

could we try again for sure?

& I wanted to head out

but hung in for a little while

let our heat die down

see if I could make some sense

I know you want holding

the problem I got

you want to hold on to one thing

the me you met back then

but I’m still growing finding my way

& I need to head out

be who I’m going to be

& if you hold on to the one thing

is going to make you unhappy

as that ain’t gonna be me
